Use your FSA ID to confirm your identity when you access your financial aid information and electronically sign your federal student aid documents, including the FAFSA. A Social Security number is required to register for an FSA ID for both parent and student.
  • Visit www.fsaid.ed.gov. 
  • Enter your email address, then create a username and password.
  • Enter your legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, contact information, and challenge questions and answers. 
  • Confirm your cell phone and email address by using a secure code sent to your phone and email address used to create your FSA ID. This step is optional, but will be the easiest way to recover your FSA ID if you were ever to get locked out of your account. Take advantage of this new option, FSA ID users will be able to log in with a verified mobile phone number as an alternative to a username.

Register your mobile phone number:
  • When creating an FSA ID account, you will be asked if you want to register a mobile phone number. If you agree, you will enter the mobile phone number. 
  • To verify the number, a secure code will be texted to your phone. The text may take a few minutes to arrive. 
  • You must then enter the secure code within 30 minutes on the verification page on the FSA ID website and select “Submit.” 
  • Once the mobile phone number has been verified, this mobile phone number can be used to log in. 
  • You may choose to change the mobile phone number at any time by logging in to the “Manage My FSA ID” page on the FSA ID website.
