Here are the documents and information needed for students and parents to complete the FAFSA. 
  • Create separate FSA IDs for one parent and student (username and password) here
  • Parent(s) and student’s full legal names
  • Parent(s) and student’s Social Security number (SSN), permanent resident card, green card, or I-94 if they are not a U.S. citizen (Note- if your parent doesn’t have a SSN you can still apply) 
  • Student’s driver’s license (If they have one)
  • Parent(s) and student’s federal tax return (If they have one) 
  • Parent(s) and student’s W-2 and 1099 Forms (Or last pay stub for each job)
  • Annual amounts of untaxed income received in the household (SSI, Child Support, Welfare Benefits, etc.)
  • Total value of all investments (Stocks, Bonds, CD’s, 529 plans, Mutual Funds, Real Estate, NOT Retirement) 
  • Parent(s) and student’s financial information including total amounts in checking and savings accounts along with cash
  • Parents date of marriage and if divorced, the month and year of the divorce
  • If you are in a legal guardianship, bring court papers for the guardianship 
  • If you own a business with more than 100 employees, or an investment farm know the total value of the business (buildings and equipment) and how much you owe on the business 
  • Parent(s) and student’s email addresses (cannot be the same)
  • Access to a cell phone to verify phone number via text 
  • List of higher education schools the student is applying to
